This Swahili cookbook was published in Tanzania and is part of the Biosciences Library Cookbook collection. This collection comprises over 4000 titles from all over the world, spanning 1534 – present; languages represented include Latin, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, German, Russian, French, Italian and Spanish. The collection is used by anthropologists, nutritionists, historians and everyday cooks.

The art of typography is the focus of this book featuring the Armenian alphabet, one of over 5000 titles in Armenian owned by the UC Berkeley Libraries. To find them, search OskiCat using the Advanced Search feature in order to limit by language.
Visit the Moffitt Library exhibit, “From Abkhaz to Zuni: The Language Collections of the University Library.” This exhibit highlights the linguistic diversity of the University Library’s collections, a cornerstone of the world-class research for which the University is famous. The campus libraries include material in over 400 languages, representing a vast array of cultures and time periods.

I learned from participant Jane Paris that it helps to have a focus so the focus of this blog, besides making me feel less guilty for not doing the homework for the seminar, will be to pass on to library staff thoughts, links etc. from the seminar that they might find interesting. Out of 400+ staff, who knows, I might get one or two of them to read this (if a blog falls in the forest and no one hears it…)
